A Seamless Addition
The owners of this early 20th century Craftsman-style home wanted to build an addition to suit their growing family, but didnít want the house to look like it had been added onto.
To accomplish their goals, Studio Z designed an addition which almost doubled the size of the kitchen and provided a modern, continuous workspace. Behind the addition is a mud room with a covered entrance. Studio Z designed a study/guest bedroom suite with a first-floor full bathroom that opens off the existing dining room. On the south side of the dining room and study is a sunny deck.
Upstairs, Studio Z designed an airy master suite containing a nice-sized bedroom with a vaulted ceiling and shed dormers to match the existing dormers, a full bathroom, and a walk-in closet.
The owners report that friends and family members canít tell that the addition was not original to the home.
