Small Addition Creates a Family-Centered Space with New Kitchen

The owners of this 1970 colonial needed more space.

By removing the walls between the dining room, kitchen, and family room, Studio Z created a family-centered space with a new kitchen at its heart. A small addition to the family room made it more functional. Craftsman style details were used on the columns between the dining area and the family room, and were repeated in the new fireplace surround. Skylights and light fixtures were added to the family room, and Studio Z designed a new screened porch that opens to the family room. A new laundry/mud room became the family’s entrance from the existing garage, and a new master suite was built over the garage.
